A satellite receiver that freezes on the boot logo, shows “Loading” or “Booting” forever, or sits on a black screen is one of the most common problems — and most of the time it is fixable at home in a few minutes. Work through these steps in order.
1. Power-cycle the receiver properly
Unplug the receiver from the wall (not just standby) for 60 seconds, then plug it back in. This clears a frozen memory state and fixes a surprising number of “stuck on boot” cases.
2. Check the power supply
A failing power adapter causes random freezes and boot loops. If your box uses an external adapter, test with a known-good one of the same voltage/amperage. Swollen capacitors or a hot adapter are clear signs it needs replacing.
3. Remove USB devices and cards
A corrupted USB stick or a badly seated smartcard can halt the boot. Remove all USB devices, re-seat the card, and power on again.
4. Update or reflash the software
If it still hangs, the firmware may be corrupted. Download the correct software for your exact model from the manufacturer, copy it to a FAT32 USB stick, and follow the model’s update procedure. Only ever use firmware made for your exact model.
5. Rule out the subscription
Sometimes the box boots fine but every channel is black or scrambled — that is not a boot fault, it is an expired server subscription. Encrypted channels only open while the subscription is active. Renew it for your device and the channels return within minutes:
- Check your device to see the exact renewal plans for your serial.
- Renew VIP Package, Funcam, NETFLY, Nashare and more.
